April 15, 2014, 10:55 am, High Point Fire District and Sand Hills Fire Department responded to a report of an industrial machine fire at the Circle S Ranch wood chip facility located at 1201 Sims Road. First arriving responders found a 30 foot tall wood chip dryer with burning wood chips packed into it’s exit chute. Firefighters set up a water supply with a portable water tank and used tankers to shuttle water from a hydrant located at Sims Road and Highway 151.

Burning household debris on the ground behind a home on Zilly Steen Rd. sparked a fire that consumed 20 acres of grass and wood land, threatening two homes and a barn. At 2:30 pm, April 1st, 2014, High Point Fire District responded to the fire, which was located at 130 Zilly Steen Rd. First arriving firefighters found a fast moving wind driven fire.

The driver of a Toyota Corolla suffered life threating injuries in a vehicle crash on Sunday, March 16, 2014, at 8:48 PM, at the intersection of Hwy 207 and Landsford Road, north of Pageland SC. Responders from the Pageland Rescue Squad, High Point Fire District and First Health EMS arrived to find that the Toyota had been hit on the driver’s side by a Dodge Ram pickup truck.

On Thursday, March 13, 2014, an 80 year old woman suffered serious burns when she fell while trying to extinguish a grass fire in her yard on Guess Road outside of Pageland SC. Volunteers from High Point Fire district responded with a two brush trucks and two engines to the fire and arrived to find that a mobile home had been ignited with winds driving the grass fire toward a second mobile home.

On Monday, January 27th, 2014 at 1:11 PM, High Point Fire District responded to a report of a woods fire between Stateline Road and Plyler Circle outside of Pageland near the NC/SC state line. Firefighters arrived to find approximately five acres of pasture and woods had been burned with the wind pushing the fire through the woods toward a home.
