The volunteers of High Point Fire District responded to a report of a large column of black smoke visible from over 10 miles away, thought to be originating near Hornsboro Rd. Engine 51 arrived at the scene to discover an intoxicated individual burning a substantial pile of old tires behind a home on Clark and Burnell Ln, off of Oro Church Rd.

To combat the fire, Engine 51 utilized its deck gun, flowing 500 gallons of water per minute to knock down the flames. Upon the arrival of Engine 11 and additional firefighters, a hose line was deployed to complete the extinguishment of both the tire fire and the nearby trees that had caught fire.

In light of the circumstances surrounding the incident, the Chesterfield County Sheriff's Department was called to investigate.
