Grass and Woods Fire

High Point Fire District responded to a grass fire on Smith Ln. Engine 51 arrived on the scene to find a small grass fire that had extended into the woods. Additionally, a small storage building was engulfed in flames. Firefighters promptly deployed a hose line to contain the fire and prevent it from spreading further into the wooded area.

Firefighters extinguished the remains of the storage building and addressed a nearby burning rubbish pile. The cause of the fire was determined to be embers from a fire barrel that were carried by the wind, igniting the surrounding grass and structures.

High Point Fire District encourages residents to exercise caution when using fire barrels, especially during windy conditions, to help prevent similar incidents in the future.
