Industrial Fire - Sims Rd.

Volunteers from High Point, Sandhill, Ruby Mt.Croghan, and Pageland Fire departments responded to a fire at the Circle S Shavings Mill on Sims Rd. This is the same facility and machinery that experienced a fire and explosion in January that injured 5 firefighters.
Responders arrived to find that a mechanical malfunction had resulted in overheating and fire inside the machinery. A large blower fan came apart with a piece of shrapnel exiting the side of the machinery and going through the wall of the adjacent building and embedding into another wall across the building.
Firefighters used hoses and a ladder truck to cool the machinery as well as pumping water into the machines fire suppression system. A tanker shuttle was set up to supply water to the incident. Firefighters were on scene for 6 hours.
