Pedestrian Struck

High Point Fire District, along with Pageland Rescue and Lifeguard EMS, responded to a rollover vehicle crash on Gum Springs Church Rd. near Highway 9.
Upon arrival, Engine 51 observed a vehicle that had lost control while swerving to avoid a pedestrian. The vehicle struck the pedestrian, left the roadway, rolled, and came to rest on its driver’s side.
Emergency medical personnel from Pageland Rescue and Lifeguard EMS administered immediate care to the injured pedestrian at the scene. Concurrently, Engine 11 was redirected to the Pageland Airport to establish a landing zone for a medical helicopter.
The injured pedestrian was subsequently transported by EMS to the airport, where they were loaded onto the helicopter for further treatment at a Trauma Center in Charlotte, NC.
The driver of the vehicle was evaluated by EMS on-site but refused transport by ambulance. The incident remains under investigation by the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
