Timber Pile and Woods Fire

JH Burch Road

High Point Fire District responded to a report of a woods fire on JH Burch Rd. Brush 23 arrived on the scene to find a substantial wood pile ablaze, with flames extending into the surrounding woods. Brush 23 advanced a hose into the woodland area, successfully halting the advance of both the right flank and the head of the fire.

Engines 11 and 21 deployed their deck guns to contain the left flank, effectively curtailing the fire's spread. The South Carolina Forestry dozer arrived shortly after, creating a fire break around the affected area in the woods.

Once the woods fire was contained, firefighters redirected their efforts to address the still-burning timber piles. The dozer broke apart the piles, allowing Engines 11, 21, and 51 to use their deck guns to extinguish the flames, with Tanker 22 supplying necessary water throughout the operation.

The cause of the fire remains undetermined at this time.
