The volunteers of High Point Fire District, in collaboration with our auto aid partners Pageland, Sandhill, and Ruby Mt Croghan Fire Departments, responded to a structure fire located on Wade Funderburk Rd.

Upon arrival, Engine 11 discovered an abandoned mobile home on an overgrown lot fully engulfed in flames, along with multiple vehicles also on fire. The rapid spread of the fire posed a significant threat to an adjacent building on the property.

Engine 11 deployed two hose lines: one to combat the fire in the mobile home and another directed at the burning vehicles. Engine 21 arrived shortly thereafter, assisting Engine 11 by supplying water and aiding in the deployment of the second hose line. Additional apparatuses staged on Wade Funderburk Rd, taking turns to supply water to Engine 11, while also refilling at a nearby hydrant. A total of approximately 10,000 gallons of water was utilized to extinguish all fires at the scene. High Point Firefighters were on scene until 2:19 PM.

During the incident, a Sandhill firefighter sustained injuries when he came into contact with a downed power line obscured in tall grass. He was transported by Lifeguard EMS to Atrium Union, where he received treatment and was subsequently released.

The fire is currently under investigation by the Chesterfield County Sheriff's Department, with preliminary findings suggesting that it may have been started by a squatter residing in the vacant mobile home.
